CAPTURE DEEP MARKET
Rotomolder Dives Into Consumer Products

Saddle Brook, NJ: Innovative plastics rotomolder Meese Orbitron Dunne Company (MOD) has purchased global recreational pool and spa products company POOL SHOT PRODUCTS™, Tampa, FL. Strategically ideal for both organizations, the acquisition enables the national rotomolder to accelerate the growth and expansion of POOL SHOT PRODUCTS™ while streamlining access to the vast distribution network of the pool and spa industry.

For the past 13 years, MOD has designed and manufactured several best-selling Pool Shot products including the Pool Shot Varsity, Junior Varsity and Wing-It pool basketball systems and the Super Water Volley pool volleyball system via its OEM Custom Molding Division, which has achieved 30% growth in the past year en route to expansions of two of the company's four manufacturing facilities. Anticipating double-digit growth in revenues for POOL SHOT PRODUCTS™, the company plans to design and develop an expanded line of rugged recreational pool products for consumer use in both in-ground and aboveground pools.

"We're bullish on this market," says Sales Manager Greg Graham. "People are spending more and more time at home and in their pools and they are looking to make the pool the center of family recreation. Our Pool Shot products will help keep the kids at home for the summer." According to the National Spa and Pool Institute, approximately 150,950 pools were sold in 1997 and 172,184 in 1998, for a 40.5 percent increase since 1994.

While many pool owners purchase new games, floats and accessories each season, few such products withstand the rigors of an entire season, according to Mr. Graham. "Homeowners are investing considerably in their pools and we have found from our current product line that they are willing to invest in high quality pool games that will last year after year," says Mr. Graham. The company's rotomolding expertise permits the design and development of durable plastic products that withstand the punishment of continuous outdoor exposure to chlorine, water, ultra-violet light and other harsh elements. The MOD Pool Shot products are also designed for versatility and a single home unit may be adapted to play pool basketball, volleyball or other water sports.
